#SaferCities4Women - focusing on Women’s Equity

Migrant’s Bureau has focused heavily since our inception in asking questions surrounding gender equity in our cities. Who’s voices are heard more than other’s? What policies are being made and who is being centered?

In 2021, Migrant’s Bureau started a campaign #SaferCities4Women in which we could design better spaces for women. We engaged with women in our growing network to curate small takeaways and from here we’ve recognised the need for Black and migrant women in the UK and abroad to come together and be centered.

Migrant’s Bureau’s ongoing vision over the next 4-5 years will aim to focus on how we can design interventions, better housing, landscapes and engagements with the focus of women’s equity. What could a co-living space for Black migrant women in the UK look like? What could this be like in segregated/ apartheid cities like Johannesburg?

Listen out for our upcoming podcast in the summer which will feature voices of more women.

Founding-Director part of Founderland!

MB is solely run by Alisha Morenike Fisher and back in late 2021, Alisha joined the Founderland community to enrich her experience as a female founding-director.

Founderland is a network of Women Founders on a mission to build a new intersectional standard for entrepreneurs, bringing founders, allies and investors together to get more diverse, sustainable and scalable business funded. During an incredibly challenging few years in the pandemic as a business owner, forging ties with an incredible network has been so essential.

”Together, we are building a new land, for ourselves and for those who’ll come after us. Changing the game as we go.”

Symbols Alisha chose to represent herself include: balance, the uplift + embracing the powerful spirit!
